I reckon you’re visiting Croatia, and these gorgeous little islands on the coast of Split in summer. The waters are cool and swimmable as early as early spring and as late as early autumn. But just like the rest of the southern European coasts, Lucisca Bay is packed in summer.
I suggest coming here in the morning to secure the best parking and the beach spot.
By noon, expect the beach to be swarmed by pale humans hungry for the sun.
A traveler who visited the beach in September said
“Lovely beach with a freshwater spring underneath the water. Easily one of the top beaches on Hvar. It’s beautiful for photos in the way down and gorgeous when swimming in the water and viewing it. The beach and the mountains behind it make for a unique and peaceful retreat if you are lucky enough to discover this beach when it is not crowded. This beach is located on a rocky road inaccessible with rental cars but if you have a four-wheeler or an SUV make sure to visit this beach. It’s a bit of a hike downhill, but well worth it. The road to the beach is also very scenic and will leave you breathless. There is also a bar on the beach that seemed to be closed when we visited in September but was also completely empty. This was a positive for us but in high season I’d imagine this beach is busier and the bar is likely operating.”
Lucisca Bay is about thirty minutes away from Hvar Port by car. You can pass by several famous beaches on Hvar Island such as Pokonji Dol Beach and Dubovica Beach.
The beach is a 10-minute walk from the road. Like the rest of Hvar Island beaches, the path is somewhat rocky, and I highly recommend flip-flops-uncultured Europeans 😛 to wear shoes to avoid unnecessary blisters and cuts.
Feast your eyes on this beauty! The hike from the road may be short, but it’s a walk in a rocky park (literally). Though the beach may be crowded, you can easily find a hidden gem on the rocks at the edge – shaded and with crystal clear waters. And if you’re looking for a drink, the nearby bar is a cozy spot with a killer selection of beverages and munchies.
A bar by the beach serves basic drinks and quick bites. It’s only open during peak season, which, you guess right, is summer.
