It is a personal pilgrimage. To visit my muse, that is. Despite my countless visits, Kawasan’s vigor strikes me as exciting as the first time I set eyes on her. We were supposed to visit this place on New Year’s Day to lead off the year with rush, flow, exuberance. Yes, my personal superstitions.
We pushed our trip down south on the fourth and visited the muse on his last day in Cebu. Kawasan has changed. Considerably. Last year’s earthquake collapsed the rocks at the second falls and the tiny falls between the first and the second. The lanky guy who took our photos last year gained weight and is now round. We have changed.
I wanted to share to him my favorite spot, a little nook I considered the most dangerous in the entire Kawasan river system. During our previous visits, we just stayed at the second falls’s area and did not push to the lagoon.
This time. We did.
Here are some Kawasan Falls Cebu Philippines photos taken in January 2014.
The kids at the lagoon saved us in many ways. Thanks to Rizalito, Cherissa, Cutie Pie, Mary Joy, Lemuel and the rest of the kids in the lagoon. I promised them I would come back in February and bring them books and gifts. It seems it would come sooner than expected.
Heading to my sacred place later this month with the people who introduced the muse to me.
Hopeful and exuberant,
