Well, the secret that is Siargao Island is pretty much out. But compared to the world-renowned Boracay Island or Cebu, Siargao still has that idyllic charm and vibe small islands have. While there are surprising changes. Most of General Luna’s coconut groves give way (to put it mildly) to resorts ranging from budget to fancy. On the positive note, there are no more muddy roads. The roads are now concrete and well-maintained. A big part of its land is still covered with coconut trees. And it is my earnest hope that it remains like that. But that’s some wishful thinking isn’t it? Where to stay in Siargao, if it is your first time in Siargao, my bet for you to stay is General Luna or GL for short, where most happenings are. The rest of the island can be Skylab-ed :), the local’s slang for a motorbike.
