While Seattle is generally a safe and welcoming city, there are a couple of neighborhoods that may not be the best fit for first-time visitors, especially those unfamiliar with the area. Here are two neighborhoods to approach with caution:
JUMP TO
ToggleWhile these neighborhoods have their charms and attractions, they may not provide the best experience for first-time visitors who are still getting their bearings in the city. It’s always a good idea to do some research and exercise caution when exploring unfamiliar areas.
Ace Hotel Seattle is a budget-friendly hotel that offers a trendy and hip atmosphere. The minimalist decor and vintage furniture provide a cool and modern feel, while the affordable prices make it an ideal option for travelers on a budget.
Nestled in the heart of downtown, this quaint boutique hotel boasts beautifully furnished interiors with its own unique style. Of all the hotels and hostels I’ve stayed at, this one had by far the most comfortable bed – it was like sleeping on a cloud! The pillows were equally dreamy, providing just the right amount of support.
Though we opted for a room with a shared bathroom, the facilities were impeccably clean and spacious, with the added bonus of our own sink in the room. While some rooms come with private bathrooms, our last-minute booking didn’t allow for that luxury – but we were more than satisfied with our stay nonetheless. Plus, the hotel’s proximity to the Clipper Ferry Terminal (just an 8-minute walk away) made our travel plans a breeze. I can’t wait to return and experience this wonderful hospitality again.

Beautiful stay at this cozy and charming hotel! The lobby is inviting, and the staff was pleasant and helpful. Our room had a lovely art deco design, and the comfortable beds made it hard to leave. The bathroom mirror was a personal favorite of mine.
The room was clean and quiet, and although the AC was small, it worked hard. I can understand how some people might mistake the decor and paint choices as old and dirty, but it was actually quite nice. This hotel has character, and I would definitely stay here again.
In terms of location, it’s less than a block from the U-District light rail station and a short distance from the Ave (filled with numerous shops and restaurants). The Neptune theater is right across the street for those who enjoy live music. Although the area may not be the most picturesque, I felt completely safe and comfortable at this hotel, which is noteworthy.

The service at this hotel is truly excellent, and it’s housed in a lovely historic building that’s been updated with modern amenities. During our three-night stay, we were in a spacious suite that easily accommodated a king bed, pull-out couch, and a rollaway bed. The hotel’s history is showcased in each room with a picture book, which we found to be a nice touch.
Despite the central location, we couldn’t hear any street noise or noise from other hotel guests, and the beds were very comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping our room neat and well-stocked with provisions. We dined at the hotel restaurant on our first night and enjoyed live music in the lobby bar on our second night. Both times, we received outstanding service, and the food was delicious.
