When Is the Best Time to Visit Apo Island for Diving

The best time to visit Apo Island for diving is between November and May. During these months, the weather is generally calm, with clear skies and excellent underwater visibility, making it ideal for exploring the vibrant coral reefs and abundant marine life. The waters are warmer and the currents more manageable, perfect for both beginners and advanced divers. Avoid the rainy season, from June to October, as the seas can be rough, and visibility may be reduced. Where to Stay for Your Apo Island Diving Escapade

Personally, for my first dive trip, I stayed in Dauin (traveling solo), then in Dumaguete City (traveling solo but wanted more food options), and the last one, I stayed in Apo Island itself (traveling with my then-boyfriend). Siquijor

This site is famous for its strong currents, which bring in schools of jacks, or “Mamsa,” as the locals call them. The spectacle of hundreds of these fish swirling around you is something that will stick with you long after you’ve surfaced.

Cogon Point – AOW

Cogon Point is where things start to get wild. Advanced Open Water divers will revel in the deep drop-offs and the chance to spot larger pelagic species. Chapel – AOW

A dive at Chapel feels like a pilgrimage for Advanced Open Water divers. The steep walls here are covered in hard and soft corals, home to countless species of fish. The currents can be tricky, but they also bring in large schools of fish and the occasional turtle or shark. It’s a dive that challenges and rewards in equal measure.

Largahan – OW
