It takes time to love big cities. Its character is not fixed, its face varied, it is or can be unpredictable. To love a city is to linger, to stay for months or years perhaps. It is not meant for place sniffers, those who can only afford to stay for three days, a week utmost: visit the Petronas Tower on the second night, go to Batu Caves in the morning, haggle at Chinatown in the afternoon. Images from the Bus Window Series: Badian to Cebu City Photos

For a traveling gardener, the roadsides are constant wonders. It becomes a game of naming flowers  (colorful mayana, suwangga, zinnia) and I don’t have that in my garden yet, I wish I could get off and get some of those beauties  for my garden soliloquys. But this is a very relaxing activity. Something that does not really require movements. It is too relaxing that I often doze off in the middle of the game.
